This sale features rare and important paintings and sculpture by Philippine National Artists and significant local artists from private collections. They include a preparatory painting by Juan Luna circa 1888, oil on wood panel paintings by the early modernist Juan Arellano, a highly important relief sculpture in narra by Carlos “Botong” Francisco, an oil on canvas “Galumph” painting by Lee Aguinaldo, a sought-after nude charcoal by Victorio Edades, a 1948 oil on canvas by the renowned nautical painter Alfredo Carmelo, an iconic “Maze” painting and a spectacular collage and pastel work by the internationally celebrated David Medalla, and a complete illustrated “Stations of the Cross” by J. Elizalde Navarro.

Upholding the auction house’s reputation as a source for exquisite works by Vicente Manansala, “Planting Rice,” a 1967 pen and india ink wash by the master is also up for bidding. Also included are works by postwar Philippine masters such as Cesar Legaspi, Arturo Luz, Romeo Tabuena, Fernando Zobel, and Onib Olmedo, as well as oeuvres by established contemporary artists: a very fine book piece by Santiago Bose, an iconic Mark Justiniani, a whimsical Geraldine Javier, and hard-to-find pastels by Jose (Jojo) Legaspi.
